At Vive, we work to heal troubled kids and family relationships in the homes and communities where our clients live.
We are often called upon by parents who are experiencing a chaotic or turbulent time in their families. They are trying to help their sons or daughters with any number of challenging behaviors. These parents come to us because they are worried and exhausted and sometimes feeling hurt and angry. They have had teachers or friends talk to them repeatedly about their child’s “anger problems,” “underage drinking” or “acting out behaviors.” Some parents we work with have had challenges of a different sort. They have had a son or daughter who is suffering from panic attack symptoms, depression, social phobia, or low self-esteem.
Our approach to helping teens and young adults involves showing up in real time for them and for parents in a supportive and dynamic way. The young person in the family is supported and encouraged by a therapeutic mentor. The therapeutic mentor meets for appointments in person, and supports the client by phone and by text daily when needed. Vive mentors build strong relationships with their young clients, and support them toward achieving their goals. The parents in the family are shored up with a positive and supportive parent coach, who is also available in person, by phone and by text, for those challenging moments that occur outside of scheduled appointments.
